Irans parliamentary delegation to visit Thailand

A four-member Iranian parliamentary delegation is set to pay an official visit to Thailand to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations with the Southeast Asian countrys senior officials.
The delegation, headed by Head of Iran-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group Iraj Nadimi, will depart Tehran for Bangkok on October 25.

The Iranian group will be holding meetings with Thai parliamentarians, and explore avenues for further enhancement of parliamentary, trade, economic and industrial cooperation between Iran and Thailand during their eight-day visit.

In October 2012, Nadimi and President of Thailands Senate Nikom Wairatpanij called for the further promotion of Tehran-Bangkok ties.

The call was made during a session held on the sidelines of the 127th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in the Canadian city of Quebec, where the two officials discussed bilateral relations.

The friendly ties between the people and officials of the two countries, which are rooted in history, must still continue in the path of growth and development, Nadimi said.

The Iranian legislator noted that Tehran and Bangkok should use the IPU as a proper opportunity to expand their mutual cooperation.

Wairatpanij, for his part, praised Iran as a key player in Asia and underscored Thailands resolve to maintain amicable relations with the Islamic Republic.

The president of the Thai Senate pointed out that Tehran and Bangkok should draw on all the existing potentials to promote their ties in political, economic and cultural spheres.
