TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran and Germany signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost their mutual cooperation in cultural fields.
The MoU was signed by Head of Irans National Library Eshaq Salahi and Head of Berlin State Library Barbara Schneider in a meeting in Berlin on Thursday.
During the meeting, the Iranian and German officials called for broader cooperation between the two countries national libraries.
Salahi, heading a ranking delegation, is in Germany to meet with German cultural officials.
Earlier this year, former Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and outgoing German Ambassador to Tehran Brand Erbel in a meeting in Tehran discussed bilateral ties and cooperation.
During the meeting in Tehran in June, Salehi and Erbel underlined the need for improving Tehran-Berlin relations.
During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister pointed to the current status of bilateral ties between Iran and Germany, and said, "Iran and Germany relations will be boosted after removing certain obstacles."
Salehi appreciated Erbel for the efforts he made during his mission in Tehran to promote Tehran-Berlin ties.
The German ambassador, for his part, said that Iran and Germany enjoy good relations.
Erbel said during his mission in Iran, he became closely familiar with the rich civilization, history and culture of the Iranian nation.
Iran and Germany have tried to expand their bilateral relations in recent years through reciprocal visits by the two countries' officials.
