Japanese FM plans to visit Iran in early November
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida plans to visit Iran to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on the Wests dispute over the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program as well as the ongoing crisis in Syria.
Kishida hopes to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and other Iranian authorities between November 8 and 10, Japans state-run Kyodo news agency reported on Friday.

The Japanese foreign minister will also discuss Tehran-Tokyo cooperation in the areas of environment protection and the campaign against drug trafficking with the Islamic Republic.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 26.

The pair explored avenues for the advancement of relations between Iran and Japan in diverse areas, particularly in the fields of economy and culture, and exchanged viewpoints on major regional and international developments.

The Iranian president also reiterated the peaceful nature of Irans nuclear activities, noting that the countrys nuclear energy program is fully supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and is within the framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Rouhani termed the US-engineered sanctions imposed on the Iranian nation as unlawful and inhumane, expressing hope that the sanctions would be soon lifted.

Turning to the crisis in Syria, Rouhani stated that Syria is embroiled in the most dangerous form of civil war and Tehran will do its utmost to end the bloody conflict in the Arab country.

Abe, for his part, praised Rouhanis policies on interaction and friendly ties with the worlds countries, expressing hope that Irans nuclear issue is resolved as soon as possible.

The Japanese prime minister also voiced Tokyos serious concern over threats posed by chemical warfare and the weapons of mass destruction.
