UNSC must act against Takfiris in Syria: Lawyer

The Syrian government is entitled to ask the UN Security Council to take action regarding the war crimes committed by the foreign-backed Takfiri militants in Syria, an international lawyer tellsPress TV.
A complaint should be brought to the [UN] Security Council that war crimes and crimes against humanity under the Nuremberg principles are clearly occurring and those can be brought by the government of Syria before the Security Council at this time on the basis of the evidence that I have seen, said Alfred Lambremont Webre in a Friday interview with Press TV.

Principle VI of the Nuremburg principles of the International Law Commission of the UN determines a set of guidelines for defining instances of war crime.

Lambremont Webre pointed to the extensive evidence of the killing of hostages, the plundering of public or private property and the unjustified destruction of cities, towns or villages in Syria as some instances of war crimes by the Takfiri militants.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report on Friday saying the Takfiri militants in Syria killed 190 civilians and held over 200 others hostage in the countrys western province of Latakia in August alone.

The 105-page report was compiled based upon on-site investigation and interviews with 35 people, including the survivors of the attacks.

According to the report, in some cases, the extremists executed or gunned down entire families. A vast majority of the hostages are also women and children.

Since the outbreak of the turmoil in Syria in March 2011, several video clips have been released showing the grisly crimes perpetrated by the foreign-sponsored terrorists against innocent civilians in the country.

A very large number of the militants in the Arab country are reportedly foreign nationals.
