92 energy wells drilled

Some 92 oil and gas wells with a depth of 206,907 meters have been drilled since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21), said the managing director of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC).

Hamid Reza Golpayegani added that of the wells, 43 were development wells, two were exploration wells and 50 were workover and complementary wells.

He said 57 wells have been drilled and completed in oil-rich southern regions, eight wells by Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, six wells by Falat Qarreh Oil Company, 22 wells as commissioned projects and two exploration wells.

"Of the conducted drillings, close to 30,851 meters pertained to energy project development projects," he said.

Golpayegani said 4,000 techno-engineering services were conducted on oil and gas wells as follows: 236 well-logging operations, 672 special operations, 229 mobile pipelines, 133 acidizing operations and 1,159 cementing operations.

"All the operations have been conducted by using 74 drilling units," he said.

North Yaran Oilfield

Homayoun Kazemeini, the manager of development project of North Yaran Oilfield, said drilling operations of 18 wells have begun since September 23.

He said once drilling operations of each well is completed, it will immediately begin production.

Kazemeini noted that all infrastructural measures, including the construction of 3 underground reservoirs and an access road, and final decisions about the tenders have been taken.

With the implementation of the field's development project, 30,000 barrels of oil will be extracted daily.

"Early production in the field has begun since January by drilling one production well that produces 2,000 barrels of oil per day," he added.

He said 18 production wells and one production-appraisal well are to be drilled in the field.

Kazemeini noted that the field's development project worth 700 million was signed between Petroleum Engineering and Development Company and Persia Oil and Gas Company in the form of a buyback contract.

According to the contract, the project should be implemented in 52 months.

North Yaran Oilfield is located in Khuzestan province 130 kilometers west of Ahvaz, along Iran-Iraq border.

Training Iraqis

Earlier, Iran signed an MoU with Iraq's drilling entity to hold engineering and technical training courses for its personnel in Tehran.

Iraqi trainees will receive international certificates at the end of the courses.

"Iran's drilling industry is one of the pillars of oil and gas production, and plays a crucial role in exploring, developing and launching oilfields," Golpayegani said.

Pointing to the achievements of NIDC and its breakthroughs, the NIDC chief said, "Precious experiences of NIDC in drilling, completing about 3,500 gas and oil wells and presenting engineering and technical services demonstrate the Iranian drilling industry's potentials."

The official stated that engineering and technical services of NIDC are unique and irreplaceable in the world.

Golpayegani further said NIDC's training courses meet global standards.

"The National Iranian Drilling Company is able to hold training courses for all countries in the fields of gas and oil drilling operations," he said.
