Obama should give concessions to Iran: Commentator

A political commentator says US President Barack Obama should give Iran concessions by lifting sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Hamid Golpira told Press TV in an interview on Sunday that President Obama is expected to show some goodwill gesture vis--vis Iran.
... I think things have developed in this recent time like last week or so, it seems that there is a possibility of some deals on the nuclear issue [and] sanctions, he said.
Golpira added that Obama whose second term in office ends in 2017 will not have to worry about any future campaigning should he face rebuke from Israeli lobbies for his outreach to Iran.
Obama himself has the advantage that the United States has term limits; he has already won a second election as the US president, he is not going to run again; so there is one advantage for President Obama that he does not have to worry about future campaigns and worry about funding or dirty tricks on the side of the Zionist lobby, the commentator stated.
Golpira noted that all US politicians have to play up to the Zionist lobby even if they do not like them so much.

Late Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran is ready to give Washington the opportunity to prove its goodwill toward the Iranian nation.

He said Washington must understand that pressure and sanctions are not effective when it comes to the Iranian people.

Zarif stressed that any nuclear deal should allow Tehran to maintain its uranium enrichment while providing greater assurances that the program remains peaceful.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and the European Union using the unsubstantiated claim as an excuse to impose illegal sanctions against Tehran.

Iran has categorically rejected the allegation, stressing that as a committed member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Golpira also expressed hope that President Obama would not revert to the Bush administration tactics or something else because it would be problematic for any government that would be coming in 2017, depending on what happens between now and 2017 in this Iran-US relations.
