Iran's Samand to be exported to Russia directly

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian largest auto-manufacturer (IKCO) Deputy CEO for Export and International Affairs Abdolazim Sadian announced the organization has managed to win Russia's standards for exporting Iran's locally-produced sedan 'Samand', despite international sanctions imposed against the country as well as export-related problems.
"Based on the signed MoU and reception of Euro 4 standards from Russia, 10,000 sedans of IKCo are to be directly exported to Russia annually," Sadian said.

The license includes all models of Samand, including Samand LX, Samand SE, Soren ELX with TU 5 engine, he said, adding the deal is valid for 3 years and can be extended for 5 years.

He added the number of cars to be exported to Russia can be increased in the future.

IKCO products were used to be sent separately to Belarus to be assembled for export to Russia, but the corporation's sedans will be directly sent to Russian markets from now on.
