Iranian film Growing in the Wind written and directed by Rahbar Qanbari has been selected to compete at the 22nd Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) in Australia.
The 84-minute movie Growing in the Wind will contend for awards at the Competition section of the festival.

Produced by Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation, Qanbari’s full-length film recounts the story of a teenager and the problems he and his family deal with in their migration process.

The movie was screened in the 2012 edition of Spanish annual International Children's Cinema and TV Contest, Gijon International Film Festival.

Growing in the Wind was also presented at the Cinekid Film Festival in the Netherlands in last October.

Born in 1961, Qanbari is best known for his 2002 Little Bird Freak that won him the Special International Jury Prize of the 14th Cairo International Film Festival for Children.

He also won the Best Feature Film Award of the 9th Religion Today Film Festival in Italy for his 2004 production, He.

Unread Papers, An Iranian Bazaar, and Nowruz Flowers are among Qanbari’s better-known works.

Established in 1992, Brisbane International Film Festival is organized by the Screen Culture unit at Screen Queensland in Australia.

The 2013 edition of Brisbane film festival is set to be held from November 13 to 24.
