Terror acts in Iraq reveal depth of animosity with Islam: Rafsanjani

Tehran, Oct 5, IRNA Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Saturday that waves of terror bombings in Iraq betray the animosity with Islam.
In a meeting with the Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Ammar al-Hakim, Rafsanjani said that the terror operations aim to disrupt the sense of cooperation and solidarity of the nation and spread insecurity by bloodshed among the religious and tribal sects.
He described the role of the incumbent Iraqi officials as important to strengthen unity and said that fanning the flames of political dispute will engulf the other fields including economy and culture.
On Iran-Iraq cooperation, Rafsanjani said that existence of holy shrines in Iraq provided an opportunity for enhanced ties between the two countries.
He said that the two nations--with numerous commonalities, especially devotion to Ahl ul-Bayt (Infallible Household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)), can serve as a model for the neighboring states.

Hakim, for his part, congratulated the result of Iranian presidential elections as well as the change in the political atmosphere of Iran.
He briefed Rafsanjani on the latest developments in Iraq.

Lauding President Rouhani for his rational attitude towards the world, he said that rationality underlies the Islamic Revolution 1979.

He hoped that the westerners will know the value of the measures taken by the Iranian nation and government.

Hakim called for promoting bilateral ties to the highest level, saying that the Iraqi officials and nation are ready to consolidate ties with Iran.
Iraqis consider the Iran as a brotherly and friendly nation, he said.
