Iranian MP reiterates peaceful settlement of Syrian crisis

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker stressed that the only way out of the bloodshed in Syria is encouraging all sides involved in the crisis to participate in a comprehensive national dialogue to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in the Muslim country.

The Syria crisis can only be resolved through negotiation and a political solution. As one of the major players, Iran plays an important role in the resolution of regional crises, including the Syria conflict, member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hadi Shoushtari said.

Any legal power transition option that is accepted by the Syrian nation is legitimate, and is welcomed and supported by all groups and currents, the Iranian lawmaker pointed out.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots to topple President Bashar al-Assad, who is well known in the world for his anti-Israeli stances.
