Iran v-ballers beat Iraq, prepare to face S Korea

Iranian volleyball players have gained their third 3-0 victory at the 2013 Asian Mens Volleyball Championship against Iraq to keep morale high enough to take on powerhouse South Korea in the next game.
In a match held at Hamdan bin Mohammed sports complex in the United Arab Emirates Dubai on Tuesday, the defending champions managed to win the three sets against Iraq 25-16,25-17, and 25-20 in Pool K of the tourney.

You cant compare Iran and Iraq in terms of confidence and experience. Iran are the defending champions and the last time Iraq played in an Asian tournament was 1989, said Irans Argentinean Head Coach Julio Velasco.

However, he added, Each match is important because the team needs to take the rhythm of competition without losing. This is a long tournament and each time I ask the players for their full concentration. Without that the margins narrow.
My players played well according to their age and experience, so overall I am satisfied and I believe they can give a better account of themselves in the future, Velasco stated.
Iran, which is currently on top of Pool K with six points, will face its first real challenge of the tourney by taking on South Korea on Wednesday.

South Korea overpowered Chinese Taipei 3-0 in another match also held on Tuesday.

Iran had previously hit Kazakhstan and Kuwait in two easy matches.

Twenty-four teams originally participated in the tournament. However, since Jordan, Indonesia, and Pakistan pulled out of the tourney, the number was reduced to 21, which forced the authorities to make adjustments in the pools composition.

The Asian games kicked off in Dubai on September 28 and will wrap up on October 6.
