New chapter open in US-Iran ties: British scholar

London, Sept 30, IRNA An instructor at the Kings College London has said a new chapter is now open in US-Iran relations following the visit to New York of President Hassan Rouhani.
Micheal Kerr, Professor of Conflict Studies and Director of the Middle East and Mediterranean Studies program and the Centre for the Study of Divided Societies said proper steps have been taken during President Rouhanis visit to New York.

Speaking to IRNA exclusively, he said President Rouhanis speech at the United Nations General Assembly as well as his talks in New York were significant developments.

Professor Kerr stressed that removing the existing tensions in Iran-US relations and promotion of their bilateral ties would benefit both governments and nations.

Referring to the long history of distrust between Tehran and Washington, the British professor said more steps should be taken to build confidence between the two capitals.
