Iran to hold large-scale military drills late October

Tehran, Sept 30, IRNA –The Iranian Army and Khatam al-Anbiya air defense base will stage joint military exercises in west of Iran by late October.

According to the public relations office of Khatam al-Anbiya air defense base, the maneuver is aimed at showcasing the military capabilities, power and readiness of the armed forces in case of any possible threats.

In early September, Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya air defense base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said the drills will take place on mountainous zones and difficult to traverse areas, under cold weather conditions.

Esmaili underlined that a total of 8,000 operational forces and 17,000 back-up personnel would participate in the drills.
