TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei received Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday, and wished success for him and his accompanying delegation in their official mission in New York.


President Rouhani, who left Tehran for New York on Monday morning to attend the 68th annual session of the UN General Assembly, met with Ayatollah Khamenei on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Supreme Leader wished success for the president during the mission.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had left Tehran on the early hours of Wednesday for the US city of New York to attend the ministerial meeting of UN General Assembly which was held on September 22.

Before departure, Zarif said that President Rouhani will first address the UN General Assembly followed by his speech at the nuclear disarmament summit as the president of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)'s Secretariat and then an address to the NAM foreign ministers.

In August, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon invited Iranian President Rouhani to participate in the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly in September.
