Indian leader advocates “One-to-One” meeting between Iran and US

New Delhi, Sept 23, IRNA – Welcoming Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani’s forthcoming visit to NY, an Indian leader Monday advocated “One-to-One” meeting between Iran and the US.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Amrish Singh Gautam, Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly said: “Direct contacts, through letters, between Hassan Rouhani and Barak Obama, the US President, is evident that the potentials for solving the standoff through dialogue persists there. Only there is a need to push for the one-to-one meeting between the two leaders to end the chronic empasse.

He said I believe that direct meetings can resolve the issues amicably and can build trust which was not seen in case of Iran and the US,” added the Indian leader.

Elborating on his statement, Amrish, a senior leader of Indian National Congress (INC) said: “Whenever there is a communication through the mediators, some words or sentences were dropped, not intentionally, but it is natural. And that creates the ditch, especially in sensitive issues.

The Iranian President is traveling to the US to attend the 68th session of the UN General Assembly wherein he will address the world leaders on the same day as Obama.

He expressed his confidence that both the leaders will grab the opportunity and will have the one-to-one meeting on the sidelines of the biggest international event.

Noting that first, they should meet and respond to each other spontaneously as fellow human beings and then discuss mutual and global problems, the Indian leader said: “I am optimistic the meeting will pave way for further negotiations for the proper solution of the standoff”.

He Maintained that Iran is a peace-loving country and the Iranian government has always strived hard to ensure sustainable peace in the region and across the world. “Such a country can’t pose a threat to the region or the world,” Amrish added.

He further said that war, neither is the solution nor can establish sustainable peace. For the last two decades the world has witnessed only deaths and destructions, through war. Humanity can’t tolerate this any more. “For the renewal of human values and achievement of lasting peace, the world leaders need to look to the common humanitarian heritage of all nations the world over,” suggested the Indian politician.
