Muslimah World 2013 to answer Miss World

“The Muslimah World contest” to answer the “Miss World’ held in Indonesia will be finalized on Wednesday after 20 of 500 Muslim girls were chosen in an online process.

“Muslimah World is a beauty pageant, but the requirements are very different from Miss World – you have to be pious, be a positive role model and show how you balance a life of spirituality in today’s modernized world,” to its founder Eka Shanti told AFP.

The competitors expected to recite Quran and present the reasons of wearing Hijab and will wear fashionable yet Islamic garments in what Shanti says is an opportunity to show young Muslim women that they do not need to show their hair and bare shoulders to be considered beautiful.
