Tehran, Sept 19, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday underlined the need for promotion of ties with “brotherly and friendly” country of Saudi Arabia.
Referring to commonalities and common interests between the two countries, the president said that Iran and Saudi Arabia are interested in patching up minor problems in order to protect the interests of the two countries and the Muslim world.
In a meeting with senior officials from Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, Rouhani said the capacity of Hajj as the biggest gathering of Muslim people in the world and a means to bring closer Muslim nations and states should be properly recognized.
“Hajj should be the symbol of unity among Islamic Ummah,” Rouhani said.
He went on to say that any Iranian pilgrim in the Hajj can serve as an ambassador from the Islamic Republic of Iran to introduce the Iranian and Shia culture.
