Mokran coasts, Iran golden gate to South Pole

Mokran coasts, Iran golden gate to South Pole
Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA Commander of Irans Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari on Wednesday referred to Mokran coastal region in southeastern Iran as a golden gate which would give access to open seas and even to the South Pole.
Mokran coastal region is located in Baluchistan province in southeastern Iran and southwestern Pakistan.

It is a 600-mi (1,000-km) stretch along the Gulf of Oman from Ras (cape) al-Kah, Iran (west of Jask), to Lasbela District, Pakistan (near Karachi).

The name is applied to a former province of Iran. Sandy beaches, rugged promontories and tidal creeks characterize the coast-line.

Speaking at the end of a tour to Mokran coasts, the rear admiral said using Mokrans facilities would make the Navy capable of finding a direct access to the South Pole.

During his tour to Mokran coasts, Sayyari inspected different phases of its development projects which included various housing and combat units as well as several educational and cultural centers.
