Iran wins 2 gold medals in first day of World Wrestling Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian freestyle wrestlers have been able to win two gold medals in the first day of the senior world championships underway in Hungarian capital, Budapest.



The 2013 Senior World Wrestling Championships kicked off in Budapest on September 16, and will wrap up on September 22. Budapest Sports Arena hosts the competitions in the three styles: Greco-Roman, mens freestyle, and womens freestyle.

On Monday, Reza Yazdani won the gold medal in the mens 96-kg category after he defeated his Azerbaijani opponent, Khetag Gazyumov, at Budapest Sports Arena.

He had overcome his Belarusian, Canadian, Georgian, and Ukrainian rivals.

Also on Monday, Iran had earned its first gold medal when freestyle champion Hassan Rahim defeated Indias Amit Kumar in the final match of the men's 55-kg category.
