Iran will never stop uranium enrichment: Lawmaker

A senior Iranian lawmaker has ruled out the possibility of any cessation in Irans uranium enrichment activities, saying the measure is the countrys inalienable right.
What is necessary for the Islamic Republic is that enrichment, as an undeniable national right, will be never stopped, Chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday.
The Iranian lawmaker pointed to the Wests unilateral embargoes against Iran over its nuclear energy program and noted, The sanctions were imposed illegally and under the US pressure. Therefore, the precondition for confidence-building is the lifting of sanctions.
He argued that since Irans enrichment right has been recognized under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), whatever the West has done so far is illegal.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies falsely claim that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and the European Union using the unfounded allegation as a pretext to impose illegal sanctions on Iran.

Tehran strongly rejects the claim against its nuclear energy program, maintaining that as a committed signatory to the NPT and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
