IRGC commander: Enemy plots end in total failure

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the Islamic Revolution has successfully risen to the challenges mounted by its adversaries whose plots against Iran have unraveled.
Addressing a gathering of the IRGC commanders and officials here in Tehran on Monday, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafaristressed that the enemies entire plots against Iran have ended in "complete failure", adding, We are witnessing that the Islamic Revolution is powerfully rising to the challenges.

The IRGC commander said the plots hatched by enemies in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon have been also thwarted, and stressed, The latest defeat of the enemy against the Islamic Revolution front was in Syria.

He further referred to major achievements in the defense and security spheres of the country, saying even the enemies have admitted that the IRGC has boosted its capabilities for strategic confrontation with them.

In relevant remarks on September 4, Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Hossein Salami stated that the present situation in the region is the result of repeated failures of the US and its allies, and warned them not to resort to the use of force in Syria.

What we are witnessing now is the outcome of the repeated losses that the US and its western and regional allies have incurred over the past three decades, he said at the time.

Salami noted that the United States, the Israeli regime and their regional allies have failed to reach their long-term objectives in the Middle East despite employing all their strategies.

He added that these defeats led the United States to try to target the "center of gravity" of the anti-Israeli Islamic resistance front, Syria.

The US had been pressing for military action on Syria since a suspected chemical weapons attack in the suburbs of Damascus on August 21, which it blamed on the forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The government of Syria has denied involvement and said the rebels were responsible.

But a proposal by Russia, one of Damascus's main international supporters, to put Syria's chemical weapons arsenal under international control, made US President Barack Obama hold off on striking Syria and helped him avoid an embarrassing rejection from Congress, or a military action detested by the public.
