Gunmen in Pakistan torch 20 NATO oil tankers, trucks

Islamabad, Sept 16, IRNA Unidentified gunmen in southwest Pakistan attacked tankers and trucks, carrying oil and other supplies for NATO forces in neighbourig Afghanistan, and burnt 20 tankers, officials said.
No one was hurt in the attack in Hub town, police said.

The vehicles were heading to Afghanistan from the port city of Karachi when came under attack, a police officer and witnesses said.

The attackers fled after the attack. No group claimed responsibility. Militants groups are blamed for attacks on the NATO trucks.

Taliban have in the past claimed responsibility for such attacks.

Officials say that nearly 70 percent of supplies are transported to Afghanistan for around 150,000 NATO troops through Pakistan, the shortest and cheapest route.

It is the second attack on the NATO containers in Balochistan in the past three days.

On Friday unidentified gunmen fired rockets on NATO tankers and burnt nine tankers.

A driver was killed and two others were injured in the attack in Qalat district in Balochistan province.
