Salman oil output up 10,000 b/d

TEHRAN Sep 14 (Shana): Oil production from Salman oil field has increased by 10,000 b/d following the installation of gas lift platforms (GLPs), a senior official of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company said.
The GLP platform is located near the new gas lift platform in Salman field. Associated gas is injected by a compressor for enhanced recovery. The outcome is higher oil recovery, Abbas Rajabkhani, who is director of Lavan zone in IOOC, told Shana.

He said 46 wells have so far been drilled in Salman field, adding that five new compressors have been installed on the NGP platform in order to deal with the wells increased pressure.

The platform became operational after the complete implementation of gas injection compressor and accelerated gas flow.

Rajabkhani noted that gas flaring has been reduced in the Salman field platforms.

In Salman oil field, 10 main platforms, 10 satellite jackets for water injection and 15 satellite jackets for production wells have been installed.

With the increase in the production from Salman field, which Iran shares with the United Arab Emirates, oil output from Lavan region reached its one-year high.

The KPP and PP3 platforms have already become operational while the operation of SKC2 and SKB3 platforms is still under way.

IOOC Managing-Director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh said earlier that the gas injection capacity of GLP stood at nearly 60 million cubic feet a day. With the implementation of this project, recovery rate from this hydrocarbon field increases in addition to reduction in the flare gases.

Salman field is located 144 kilometers south of Lavan Island. It houses one of the largest installations in the Persian Gulf.

The offshore field has 44 oil wells, 10 water injection wells and facilities which can produce 220,000 barrels of oil and other substances a day.

The oil produced in this field is delivered to onshore facilities in Lavan Island for processing and storage through a subsea pipeline.
