Iranian army to display latest achievements in upcoming parade

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Army Ground Force will put its latest achievements on display in a forthcoming military parade on the occasion of the Sacred Defense Week.

We will present a series of achievements in the parade, and the air defense (capabilities) will be put on display, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told reporters today.

The Iranian commander, however, declined to give out any more details about the plans for the military parade which is due to take place on September 22, the first day of the Sacred Defense Week, which marks the anniversary of the onset of the Iraqi imposed war (1980-1988) on Iran.

Pourdastan also pointed to the upcoming massive military drills, called Qamar-e bani-Hashem, which he said are to be carried out in southeastern Iran in an area of 250,000 square kilometers.

The Iranian commander had in August said that the Army ground force would stage massive wargames on an undisclosed date in the coming months, in which different units of the force, especially its airborne division will take part.

He had stated the forthcoming military exercises would demonstrate the potentials and capabilities of the armored units of the ground force and they can also "tell us how such units must be deployed in an asymmetrical situation."

Qamar-e bani-Hashem wargames will be staged in a very vast and extensive region in 3 operational zones, Brigadier General Pourdastan said in August.
