Iran President meets Chinese counterpart in Bishkek

Bishkek, Sept 12, IRNA Visiting President of Iran Hassan Rouhani met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in this Kyrgyz capital city on Thursday.
President Rouhani heading a delegation arrived here on Thursday morning to attend the 13th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit to begin in the Kyrgyz capital on September 13.

President Rouhani and his Chinese counterpart are to discuss major international and regional issues including latest developments in Syria.

The two will also review Tehran-Bejing economic relations and confer about ways to promote bilateral ties.

While in Bishkek, President Rouhani is to address the SCOs Summit and hold separate talks with a number of leaders from the SCO member and observer states.

Iran, along with Afghanistan, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan, has an observer status in the SCO.

The SCO is an intergovernmental organization founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
