Police chief lauds tranquility in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam said Iran is a calm country despite enemies' efforts to drag regional instability into the country, and said the enemy plots were foiled thanks to the vigilance showed by the Iranian Leader and nation.

Some border regions of our neighboring countries are unstable and insecure and the enemy is seeking to drag this instability into our country," Ahmadi Moqaddam said in Iran's southwestern province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari today.

"But" the commander said "thanks to the vigilance of the Supreme Leader and people, Iran has become a peaceful island in this highly turbulent see."

He said enemy of Iran has thus far used various types of threats against Iran, including assassinations and sanctions, and stressed, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is at the scene, with full might, humiliating them (enemies) in their efforts to hatch plots on the international scene, and they cannot deny this role.

In similar remarks in August, Ahmadi Moqaddam had described security in Iran as "exemplary", but at the same time warned that enemies are using different tactics to undermine the country's security.

"Iran enjoys sustainable security," Ahamdi Moqaddam said, addressing a group of reporters at the time.

In relevant remarks late in July, Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi praised the Iranian law enforcement and security bodies' performance in ensuring the country's security, specially during elections held on June 14.
