TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayeen condemned the US and its allies' warmongering policies against the regional states, and said Washington has failed in convincing the world public opinion about military invasion of Syria.

"The US has not yet succeeded in convincing the world public opinion for military intervention in Syria and has no evidence to do so (to wage a war)," Pakayeen said in an interview with Azerbaijan's ANS TV channel.

He warned of the dire consequences of war against Syria, and said, "Military intervention in Syria can ignite the entire region like the flames of a barrel of gunpowder."

"Military intervention in Syria will damage all countries of the region, and the aggressive countries, the US and the West will sustain harms more than others," Pakayeen said.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami cautioned the US and its western and regional allies to avoid starting any military intervention in Syria.

The IRGC commander cautioned US and Western policymakers and security advisors that war on Syria will be a very dangerous game, stressing that there is no military solution to the Syrian conflict and that Israel must reconsider its security strategies.

Late in August, Commander of Irans Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi underlined that even the slightest attack by the US on Syria will have dire consequences for Washington on the international scene.

"(Any) attack on Syria will further pave the way for the liberation of Palestine, because the Iranian nation and other regional nations now avoid taking reciprocal action due to international considerations, but any aggression (against Syria) will result in ignoring such considerations and will make them increase their reactions against the US, Brigadier General Naqdi said, pointing to the threats and psychological war launched by the US against the Syrian nation and government.

The Iranian commander recalled the US warmongering policies and its aggression, occupation, massacre and plundering of other nations assets on lame excuses, and said, Today the enemies intend to blow a strike on the resistance in Syria under the false pretext of chemical weapons use, but the reality is that the US wants to dominate the world.

He said that the US invaded Iraq in 2003 under the false accusations that the Arab country possessed atomic bombs, while it did and does ignore Israels possession of 200 nuclear warheads. "These show that their goal is not campaigning against terrorism, rather they are after hegemony, bullying, looting nations' assets and defending the Zionist regime."

Brigadier General Naqdi said that the solution to all problems of the regional problems is elimination of the Zionist regime, adding, The American people should awaken and realize that their assets and their countrys name is being sacrificed for the sake of the security of the criminal Zionist regime.

The US and its allies have accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons against its own people near the capital, Damascus, on August 21, but Syria has vehemently ruled out any involvement in the attack, saying it was a false flag operation by the foreign-backed militants fighting against the Syrian army.
