Iranian researcher builds toothpaste for cancer patients
TEHRAN (ISNA)- An Iranian researcher at Mashhad Medical Sciences University has designed and built a toothpaste for cancer patients, after one and half year research and studies.
Patients with cancer especially those under chemotherapy because of head and neck cancers are suffering lack of saliva, said the researcher Omid Rajabi, adding that dry mouth leads to infection, decay, loosing sense of taste and lowering the life quality in these people.

The toothpaste has polymers acting like saliva proteins which remain on the gums and prevents dry mouth. Using the toothpaste, a natural-based thin layer would remain on mouth mucus and gums which prevents dry mouth.

The foreign model of the toothpaste carries chemical and artificial combination, but 90 percent of the toothpaste formula is made up of natural and available combinations.

Iranian researchers have already made artificial saliva for cancer patients using aloe vera sap.
