President Zardari lauds enhanced Iran-Pakistan ties

Islamabad, Sept 5, IRNA -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari expressed satisfaction at the current level of relations between Pakistan and Iran and hoped that the ties in all fields will further strengthen.
He was talking to the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Alireza Haghighian at the Presidency.

An official statement said Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting.

Official sources said that President Zardari recalled his recent as well as previous visits to Iran and the visits of Iranian leaders to Pakistan and stressed that such high level visits reflect strong bilateral relations.

He also called for economic cooperation between the two brotherly Islamic countries, adding that Pakistan and Iran have similar views on several international and regional issues.

President Zardari completes his five-year term next week.

Syed Mamnoon Hussain will replace him and he is likely to take oath on September 9.

President Zardari meeting with the Iranian Ambassador is part of his farewell meetings he is holding now a days.
