2 attackers killed in Afghanistan's capital

TEHRAN (FNA)- Afghan security forces shot dead two attackers in 6th police district of capital Kabul early Thursday morning, an official said.


The gun battle started at 4: 15 a.m. in Kala-i-Nazar locality when militants opened indiscriminate fire on people offering morning prayers at a mosque.

An eyewitness Idris Ahmad told Pajhwok Afghan News he was on his way home when all in a sudden he heard intense gun shots that lasted for several minutes. I did not know as what has happened.

Officials of National Directorate of Security (NDS) confirmed killing two militants who launched attack on a mosque in Western area of Kabul.

A statement issued by the NDS said two attackers in police uniform equipped with Kalashnikovs, pistols and other explosives were shot dead by the security forces in which three other persons sustained injuries.

Sources said both the attackers were believed to be Pakistani militants.

Another eyewitness Abdul Azim said the militants were planned to attack military installations in the area.

Nasratullah, the chief of crime branch for 6th district said the attackers were suicide bombers.
