The sources said that the armed rebels have stored huge supplies of military tools and equipment in Damascuss al-Qalmoun suburban area and also in Northern Syria and are waiting for the impending US missile and air strikes to pave the way for their attack on Damascus.

The armed rebels have been informed that Syrian army units and defense lines in suburban Damascus in Qaseboun and along the Daraa-Damascus road, specially near Khalkhaleh and Saleh military airports, would come the US bomb attacks in a move open a passage for them to penetrate into the capital city.

In response, Syrian security sources said on Saturday that the Syrian army and people are ready to confront and give a crushing response to any kind of military aggression by the US.

"We will defend our people and our country with all means and full force, a Syrian security source," told AFP today.

The security source pointed to the recent statements of the US officials accusing the Syrian army of using chemical weapons against civilians, and said whatever they have alleged is satirical and the public opinion in the West is also against them.

According to the recent opinion polls conducted in the West, more than 50 percent of Americans are against their governments military strike on Syria.

While the US President Barack Obama has accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons against its civilians in Damascus suburb of al-Ghouta, he has provided no evidence whatsoever to the UN Security Council to prove his claim.
