President: Sanctions to increase nations hatred of west

TEHRAN (Tasnim) President Hassan Rouhani lashed out at the West for imposing unilateral sanctions against the Iranian nation, and stressed that the western pressure has deepened the hatred of the Iranians towards the countries that imposed sanctions.

Although the sanctions have created problems in the lives of our people, they have also deepened the hatred of the people towards the countries that have imposed them, and particularly the West, President Rouhani said in the first meeting of his cabinet members with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Despite these pressures the Iranian nation has showed that it will resist and that it will not abandon its absolute rights.

The president referred to his administrations approach towards foreign policy and the intervention of the foreign powers in the crisis- ridden Middle East region, and stated, In these circumstances, Iran enjoys peace and stability in the real sense of the terms, but the enemy tries to affect the lives of our people and our society by imposing political and economic pressure.

President Rouhani had also on August 12 dismissed western countries' logic behind imposing unilateral sanctions on Tehran as "improper approach to resolve a problem."

The United States and the European Union have imposed illegal unilateral sanctions against Iran over the false claim that Iran's nuclear energy program includes a military component.

Iran rejects the allegation, arguing that numerous inspections of its nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have invariably failed to find any diversion towards military purposes.
