Italian FM: We have to think thousand times before intervening in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino stressed the necessity of reconsidering intervention in Syria “thousand times” as any international movement against Syria can lead to catastrophic repercussions.

“If we could reach consensus at the UN Security Council, we can adopt other ways, not necessarily the military one,” the Italian news agency AKI quoted Bonino as saying.

The minister rejected comparing the situation in Syria with those in Kosovo and Mali in terms of military intervention, stressing that the probable repercussions of any initiative not stemming from the UN Security Council would be “extremely dangerous”.
