Irans Army to unveil fresh accomplishments late September
Irans Army plans to showcase its latest military accomplishments on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic Republic's defence against the Iraqi invasion, a senior Iranian commander says.
The Armys Ground, Air and Naval forces will hold a massive parade in late September to mark the Sacred Defense Week, which commemorates eight years of defense against Iraq's aggression under former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan told reporters on Thursday.

The Armys achievements as well as new defense weaponry, including medium- and long-range missiles, will be displayed during the event, he said.
The parade is a message of peace and friendship to the regional countries and indicates that we are capable of maintaining regional security and that there is no need for the presence of foreigners, Pourdastan pointed out.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Irans Air Force and Defense Ministry are currently cooperating in a joint project to produce an indigenous state-of-the-art fighter jet, which will entirely end the Islamic Republics dependence on foreign fighter jets, particularly those used for training purposes.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that the Islamic Republics defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
