FM: No final decision on Irans new envoys to intl bodies

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans foreign minister said the country has not appointed its new envoys to the international organizations yet, adding that the president has the final say on the issue.

The procedures for appointing the new representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the international organizations has been started, but no person has been appointed for any post yet. That will be possible after the president signs the appointment (decree), Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters on Saturday.

He further reiterated that Foreign Ministrys proposed diplomats are, thus, waiting for the presidents approval.

"No final decision has been made on the matter yet."

Earlier, an informed source disclosed on Thursday that Iran plans to appoint a new representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

An informed source at the Iranian Foreign Ministry had told Tasnim that Iran will appoint new envoy to the IAEA soon.

The mission of Irans current Ambassador to the IAEA Ali Asqar Soltaniyeh will end on August 31.

The source predicted that the Head of the Iranian Foreign Ministrys Disarmament Office, Reza Najafi, will replace Soltaniyeh.

"His (Najafi's) decree will be issued soon and he will be introduced to the International Atomic Energy Agency," the source stated.
