Abadan, Khuzestan Prov, Aug 20, IRNA Irans Consul-General in Basra, Iraq, Hamid-Reza Mokhtasabadi on Tuesday voiced Irans readiness for lifting visa requirements with Iraq.
Speaking to IRNA, the diplomat said the idea of removing visa requirements between the two capitals was originally raised by Tehran.
However, he added, Tehran was presently waiting for Baghdads decision on the issue.
Irans Consulate-General in Basra issues about 4,000 visas for Iraqi applicants daily, said Mokhtasabadi.
He said necessary measures were being taken by Iranian and Iraqi officials for cancellation of visa requirements between the two.
