Iran finishes 7th at intl. mathematics competition

Iran finishes 7th in International Mathematics Competition.
Iranian students majoring in math and physics from Tehrans famous Sharif University of Technology have returned home to a warm welcome after earning 7th place honors earning 6 medals 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze at the 2013 International Mathematics Competition (IMC). The students discussed how they prepared to earn a spot at the IMC.

This year the IMC was held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria from August 6th to the 12th. The competition consisted of 2 Sessions of 5 hours each. Math problems were held in the fields of Algebra, Real and Complex Analysis, Geometry and Combinatorics. 70 teams from over forty countries competed in this years IMC. The students discussed the competitive nature of this years competition.

Last month in July Iranian students earned 4 silver medals at the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). While according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities, Iran ranks in the top 400 in the world in leading universities.
