Former oil minister: Zanganeh to bring Petroleum industry back on track
TEHRAN (FNA)- Former Iranian Oil Minister Kazzem Vaziri-Hamaneh said that Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, who has been nominated by President Rouhani for the post of oil minister, will revamp Irans petroleum industry.

We hope that parliamentarians will adopt a positive approach towards him and give him their vote of confidence as oil minister, Vaziri-Hamaneh told Shana in an interview.

"Toughening of sanctions in recent years has aggravated the conditions. Therefore, the incoming oil minister should undertake huge efforts to bring the petroleum industry back on the right track, he said.

Vaziri-Hamaneh said the petroleum industry needs to restructure in a bid to return to the right track.

Vaziri-Hamaneh, a veteran oil manager, said Zanganehs 22 years of ministerial experience will help him drastically change conditions in the petroleum industry.

The MPs should support Mr. Zanganeh by giving him a vote of confidence in order to enable him to clear the rugged way of the petroleum industry, he said.

He added that the next petroleum minister should pick a group of specialized technicians who will be able to negotiate with international companies in a bid to bring in technology for domestic manufacturing.

Vaziri-Hamaneh said President Hassan Rohanis choice for industry, mine and trade minister Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh is a close ally of Zanganeh. We can predict that a significant part of the petroleum industry needs, particularly in the domestic manufacturing of equipment, will be met through cooperation of Zanganeh and Nematzadeh.

He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should also cooperate with the Oil Ministry in a bid to attract foreign investment.

When a minister is familiar with the petroleum industry, he will definitely be able to bring about significant changes. "In all the developed countries, veteran and experienced managers are hired to lead them out of crisis. Oil is the main part of our countrys economy and benefiting from an experienced manager like Zanganeh will help us get out of crisis.

Due to his experience, Mr Zanganeh will be able to attract a large number of specialized and skillful forces. Due to his reputation among senior energy industry managers in the country, any experienced manager and minister Mr Zanganeh invites for cooperation will easily accept the invitation.

Vaziri-Hamaneh, however, noted that the petroleum industry will need at least two years to return to its deserving status.

He said that Iran would be able to bring its oil production to 4.3 mb/d in two years if Zanganeh becomes the oil minister.

Vaziri-Hamaneh added that Zanganeh will be able to re-launch negotiations with the neighboring states on signing gas exports deals with them.
