Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood says security forces have opened fire on the supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi on the campus of Cairo University.
The campus was the smaller of the two camps cleared of protesters by Egypts security forces during violent clashes on Wednesday morning which according to Muslim Brotherhood have left 2,200 dead and over 5,000 injured.
Most of the protesters at the Cairo University camp were taking refuge in the nearby Orman botanical gardens inside the campus.
The Egyptian state TV announced that the protesters have been evacuated from their bigger camps in Rabaa al-Adawiya Mosque and Nahda Square by the security forces.
Meanwhile, a Western media report says pro-Morsi protesters torched three churches in central Egypt on Wednesday.
The assailants reportedly set ablaze Mar Gergiss Church in Sohag city and two more in El-Menia province.
Egypt has plunged into unrelenting string of violence since General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the head of the Egyptian army pushed aside the first democratically elected president and declared chief Justice of Egypts Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour as the interim president.
On August 12, the Anti-Coup Pro-Democracy Alliance called on people to hold nationwide rallies to counter the military clampdown on their sit-ins.
The Egyptian army had earlier warned of taking action against the supporters of the ousted president.
Hundreds of protesters, mostly Morsis supporters, have been killed or wounded during the unrelenting violence that erupted since the removal of Morsi.
