TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Syrian Kurd leader opposed the recent remarks of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government President about intervention in support of the Syrian Kurds against terrorist attacks, but meantime said his people welcome logistical and arms backup from the KRG.

We are against the presence of Kurdish warriors coming from Iraq to Syria on the pretext of defending Syrian Kurds, specially after the recent statements of Barzani, Secretary-General of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) Saleh Muslim Mohammad told FNA in Damascus on Monday.

President of Iraqs Kurdistan Regional Government Massoud Barzani on Saturday threatened to intervene in Syria to protect Kurds following the massacre of Kurdish civilians by foreign-backed militants fighting in the Muslim country.

Muslim Mohammad underlined that the Syrian Kurds are ready to defend themselves against the al-Qaeda militants, but meantime said, This does not mean that we do not accept Iraqi Kurds supports, specially if these supports are of logistic and military nature and the Kurdish residents of Syrias Northwestern parts agree with receiving such aid.

Fighting between Kurdish militia and al-Qaeda-linked groups has been escalating in North and Northeastern Syria in the past weeks after Kurdish fighters managed to push back militants from several positions in the area, including the town of Ras al-Ain on the border with Turkey.
