TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayeen rejected media reports claiming that 178 Azeri patients have died in Iranian hospitals, and criticized Azerbaijan's health officials for not informing their people correctly.

Pakayeen described as unreal the reports released by certain Azeri media that 178 Azeri national have died in Iranian hospitals, and said, "Many honorable people of Azerbaijan use Iran's advanced possibilities and facilities for treatment in good conditions but unfortunately, certain media adopt positions which are on the path of the goals of biased medias instead of appreciating Iranian physicians."

"We dont expect such media to adopt positive positions, but we urge the Azeri health ministry officials to contact the embassy or clinical centers in Iran and then adopt their positions fairly," he added.

Pakayeen also denied media allegations that a hospital in Tabriz city in Northeastern Iran has kept an Azeri child hostage due to the parents' inability to pay the treatment fees, and said the child has been taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Tabriz city's children hospital for more treatment.
