Egypt Judiciary extends Morsi detention for 15 days

Egypt Judiciary says it has extended ousted president, Mohamed Morsi's detention for 15 more days.
On July 26, the official MENA News Agency reported that a court in Egypt ordered Morsi be detained over a string of accusations, including alleged collaboration with Hamas (Palestinian resistance movement) to undertake aggressive acts in the country, as well as attacking police facilities, officers and soldiers.

The report also accused Morsi of killing some prisoners, officers and soldiers deliberately and with prior intent, adding the accusation of kidnapping some officers and soldiers.

On Monday, the Judiciary extended the ousted presidents detention, pending an inquiry into his alleged links with Hamas.

Morsi is due to be questioned on whether he collaborated with the Palestinian movement in attacks on police stations and prison breaks in early 2011, when the toppled leader and some members of the Muslim Brotherhood escaped from jail during a revolt against former dictator, Hosni Mubarak.

Meanwhile, Hamas reacted to the allegations on July 26 and condemned Morsis detention, saying it is based on the premise that the Hamas movement is hostile.
The movements spokesman, Sami Abu Zuhri, said, This is a dangerous development, which confirms that the current powers in Egypt are giving up on national causes and even using these issues to deal with other parties -- first among them the Palestinian cause.
The Hamas spokesman further urged the Arab League to assume its responsibilities in the wake of such dangerous developments.

The North African country plunged into chaos after the head of the countrys armed forces, General Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, ousted Morsi on July 3, suspended the constitution and dissolved the parliament.

Since his ouster, Morsi has been held by the army at an undisclosed location.
