Ten women die in Afghanistan explosion
Ten women have died in a bomb explosion in a graveyard in eastern Afghanistan, government officials say.
The attack was carried out in Ghani Khel District of the province of Nangarhar on Thursday, when people were visiting the graves of deceased relatives during Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of holy month of Ramadan.

An explosion happened in a graveyard, said provincial police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal.
Ten women were killed in the blast, two other women and a child were also wounded, Mashriqiwal added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far, but the Afghan government often blames the Taliban militants for such attacks.

The blast came a day after three people, including two children, were killed and nine others wounded in twin explosions in the eastern province of Wardak.

According to a recent report by the United Nations, there has been a sharp increase in civilian casualties in Afghanistan in the first half of 2013.

More than ten years after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, insecurity remains across the country.

Explosions similar to the blast that took place in Nangarhar are not the only incidents claiming the lives of Afghan people, as US airstrikes have also killed many people in the country.

Over the past week alone, a series of US airstrikes has claimed the lives of more than 100 people in different regions of Afghanistan.
