A coalition of groups supportive of ousted President Mohamed Morsi has called for mass rallies on the first day of Eid al-Fitr on Thursday to demand his reinstatement.
In a Thursday statement, the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy said that five rallies will be staged in Cairo toward the Rabaa al-Adawiya Square, where Morsi supporters have camped out.

Three pro-Morsi rallies will also be staged in Giza toward the Nahda Square, another site of supporters of the ousted president.

"We are looking for victory soon and the return of democracy and an end to this coup," the coalition said.

Ever since his July 3 ouster by the army, pro-Morsi demonstrators have been staging daily protests and sit-ins to denounce what they call a "military coup" against the elected leader and demand his reinstatement.
