West against Irans scientific progress: Leader

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has denounced some Western states for their attempts to hamper Irans scientific progress by imposing illegal sanctions against the country.
Contrary to its claims, the hostile and obstinate front formed against the Islamic establishment and the Iranian nation, is made up of only a few Western domineering countries, and spares no efforts to impede Irans scientific progress, Ayatollah Khamenei said in an address to a group of Iranian academics and students in Tehran on Tuesday.
The Leader called for the continuation of the countrys scientific progress, saying a part of the current sanctions and pressure against Iran is meant to prevent the Iranian nation from achieving scientific progress.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 is the main reason for Irans progress, and the countrys enemies have not been able to hinder the countrys scientific achievements ever since.

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program and have used the unfounded accusation as a pretext to impose illegal sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Irans nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Irans civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
