Syria PM conveys Assad message to Ayatollah Khamenei

Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi has delivered the written message of President Bashar al-Assad for Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to his international affairs advisor.
The Syrian premier handed over Assads message to Ali Akbar Velayati, who advises Ayatollah Khamenei on international affairs, during a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday.

Halqi said the Syrian government and nation are resolute in defending their territorial integrity and national sovereignty and in maintaining their countrys independence.

Velayati said in the meeting that Iran and Syria have always had brotherly and strategic relations since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.
The Leader attaches great significance to Syria as a country on the frontline of the Muslim worlds resistance front against Zionism, and supporting the government and the great nation of Syria is still among priorities of the Islamic Republic of Irans foreign policy, Velayati added.
He noted that full cooperation and solidarity between the two nations has produced valuable outcomes.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed in Syria and a total of 7.8 million displaced due to the violence.
