4 killed in US drone strikes in Yemen

At least four people have been killed in airstrikes carried out by US assassination drones in Yemens central province of Marib.
The fatalities occurred on Tuesday when two unmanned aircraft fired four missiles at two vehicles in Wadi Abidah district.

The attacks come as the United States has issued a terror alert in Arab and other countries last week, closing its embassies in several countries, including Yemen.

On August 1, four Yemenis were also killed in a US drone strike in the southeastern province of Hadramawt.

On July 30, a US killer drone targeted a car in the southern province of Shabwa. Three people were killed in the strike.

A similar airstrike in Yemens southern province of Abyan killed six people on July 27.

The United States often uses its assassination drones to hit targets in Yemen and some other countries, including Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Washington claims the drones target militants, but the facts on the ground show that civilians are frequently killed in the airstrikes.

According to the Washington-based New America Foundation, the US killer drone attacks in Yemen almost tripled in 2012.
