TEHRAN – The director of vehicle inspection headquarters said on Monday that according to the World Health Organization statistics Iran is among the most air-polluted cities, rated third in the world.
And based on the same data, Iran also stood fifth among cities with most dangerous roads, Seyyed Ali Razavi told reporters.
Razavi also referred to the rating of Tehran, climbing from the fifth most polluted city a few years back to third in 2013.
To improve air quality and reduce vehicle emissions, the police will notify the motor-vehicle owners, having cars 5 years older than the newest models, to take their cars to the emission test centers within 10 days, Razavi explained.
