Report: Azerbaijan closes offices of 2 anti-Iran groups in Baku
TEHRAN (FNA)- Azerbaijans government has closed down offices of two anti-Iran political groups in Baku, media reports said.

The offices of two anti-Iran separatist groups called South Azerbaijan National Liberation Movement and Coordinating Council of World Azeris in Baku have been shut down, Contact AZ news agency reported.

The separatist groups offices were located in the government-owned building of the National Academy of Sciences in Bakus Estiklal square.

Head of South Azerbaijan National Liberation Movement Sabri Tabrizi in an interview with Azerbaijans Touran News Agency confirmed the closure of his groups office in Baku.

In April, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayeen strongly condemned the convention held by the separatist group, South Azerbaijan National Liberation Movement, against Iran in Baku.

In March, the so-called Convention of the South Azerbaijan National Liberation Movement was held in the Azeri capital and some of the participants expressed hostile remarks against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We can by no means allow certain people to act against our territorial integrity by holding anti-Iranian meetings, the Iranian envoy to Baku said at the time.

Pakayeen called on the Azeri officials to adopt the necessary measures to prevent such moves in the future.

In a similar statement in December, the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan criticized arrangement of an ethnic Azeri convention in Baku by the separatist group, DAK, and condemned the anti-Iran remarks uttered at the meeting.

In December, the so-called Convention of the World Azerbaijanis was held in the Azeri capital and some of the participants expressed hostile remarks against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Once again a new plot has been hatched to weaken the friendly bonds between the two nations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan and disrupt the friendly ties between (the official) Tehran and Baku and the separatist DAK or the so-called Azerbaijan World Congress took a step to materialize the chauvinistic goals of international Zionism and global arrogance, the statement read.

The DAK is trying to distract the attention of the Azeri public opinion from that country's most important security problems by propagating anti-Iran separatist thoughts desired by the Zionists.

Convention of the World Azerbaijanis was held in Baku on December 4, 2012. People like Saber Rostamkhanli, a separatist figure, and Ajdar Taqizadeh, a fugitive counterrevolutionary attended the convention.
