Iranian President-elect Hassan Rohani and Director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi have met and discussed the latest developments in the Iranian nuclear energy industry.
“At today’s meeting, a report on the latest situation of Iran’s nuclear energy industry and the ongoing studies at research centers was presented to the president-elect,” said Abbasi after his Saturday meeting with Rohani in Tehran.
“The future plans and the achievements of the AEOI were among the other issues discussed at the meeting,” he added.
In late June, the AEOI chief said Iran can fully meet its needs for nuclear power plants through cooperation with foreign companies while employing Iranian experts to complete and equip the facilities.
Rohani won Iran’s June 14 presidential election, garnering 50.7 percent of a total of 36, 704, 156 ballots.
Earlier on July 9, Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi also met with Rohani to submit a report on his ministry’s performance and achievements in various fields to the Iranian president-elect.
